Chikankari work is a 400 years old art that has been most cherished all across the world. This art not just adds a magical visual to the fabric but also speaks aloud about the symbolism. The actual origin of Chikankari is mysteriously unknown. It is said that this particular style of embroidery was brought into India during the Mughal Era by NoorJahan.
Today with Chikankari being a wardrobe essential, it has become comparatively easier to purchase it online with websites like House of Chikankari that sells authentic embroidered chikan.

Initially only white pure cotton fabrics were being used to showcase the chikan embroidery across all kinds of designs. Due to high demand in all price ranges, colors and fabric like georgette, semi-georgette, net, chiffon, silk etc. No doubt about the result when it comes to the artisans’ intricate work. The end result is always a feast to the eyes.
Check out House of Chikankari to have a look at all the silhouettes that they make for multiple size ranges. The best part is that it is not restricted to just women’s wear but also has multiple options in the men section.
When it comes to luxury, chikankari sarees and gowns look magical and feel magical too. My personal style is indo-western and I love combining a traditional kurta with a western twist. That’s my jam. A lot of well known fashion designers in India have showcased Chikankari work in fashion shows giving the embroidery a royal and subtle yet a classy look. You can either keep it casual with a simple cotton chikan kurta or go magnificent with the same work on silk or mulmul.

The House of Chikankari has some beautiful designs ranging from 1499 to above 4999. Their short kurtis are my favorite and a perfect piece for the summers. Currently, they are running a sale on their website and I think it’s the right time to splurge and get yourself some chikankari goodness. Chikan work might have taken a new beginning in the men section but it surely is capturing attention in the men’s wear segment.
