A Day in My Life

Padharo Mharey Desh – The Colourful Rajasthan through my eyes !

“Padharo Mharey Desh ” – This tune just gets locked in your mind and soul the moment you enter Rajasthan . Everywhere you would meet some amazing musicians and singers singing this song to entertain you  .

I had decided to go on a Rajasthan tour with my family .

We did a road trip from Jaipur to Udaipur . In between we also visited Jodhpur , Ranakpur and little bit of Jaisalmer.

Since , my whole purpose of the vacation was to be a part of the city , we didn’t want to spend much on the hotels so we stayed in budget hotels which were equally good and decent .

JAIPUR

We reached Jaipur . The pink city is what it is also called as !!

The pink brick houses and the mountains makes you wonder how it is to stay here . Every house has a story about their ancestors and kingdom that they had . The stories are of course worth listening to .

From the enthralling Rajput architecture to mesmerising  pink buildings, it is home to many enchanting viewpoints. It was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II  in the 18th century. The city is home to many revered temples, museums, gardens, forts and palaces.

We stayed at a hotel called as Hotel Amer View . Our rooms had the perfect view to The Famous Amer Fort . We couldn’t wait any long to freshen up and leave for The Fort .

The aesthetic ambiance of the palace is seen within its walls. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or “Hall of Public Audience”, the Diwan-e-Khas, or “Hall of Private Audience”, the Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. Hence, the Amer Fort is also popularly known as the Amer Palace. The palace was the residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families. At the entrance to the palace near the fort’s Ganesh Gate, there is a temple dedicated to Sila Devi, a goddess of the Chaitanya cult, which was given to Raja Man Singh when he defeated the Raja of Jessore, Bengal in 1604. This Beautiful palace has a winter and summer palace for the then queen . Its fascinating to see how science and architecture was used brilliantly in this unique Palace. The Amer Fort is located on the Aravalli Hills . The Art , the structure , the designer work is mesmerising and impossible to be depicted .

JODHPUR

The next day we left for Jodhpur by road . It took us almost 6 hours to reach the place where we are going to rest . The place where we were staying was an ancient haveli called Jhalamand Garh built 200 years back . It was scary and yet beautiful . The Thakur and The Thakurayin also stay in the property . A little far away from the city , hence peaceful abode. Home made food was served .

The moment you enter Jodhpur , there is a total different energy you get ! You feel extremely Royal compared to Jaipur. Named after its founder Rao Jodha – a Rajput ruler. It is among the most ideal tourist destinations and is home to several festivals, monuments and traditions. Jodhpur is known for its perfect mixture of old charm and modern lifestyle. Also called as the Blue City !!

The Mehrangarh Fort, which is one of the most colossal and majestic buildings of Rajasthan. The fort was built by Rao Jodha, who was the founder of the city. It has seven entrance gates, which speak of various Rajput conquests. This fort was also seen in movies like Dark Knight , Prem Ratan Dhan Payo , Jodha Akbar etc.

Next was a visit to the Umaid Bhawan Palace, which is one of the world’s largest private residences. The palace was constructed by honey sandstones and white marbles.

Later in the evening, enjoyed a leisure walk on the bank of Lake Kaylana, which is an artificial lake built in 1872. Surrounded by lofty hills and lush greenery, this place is a retreat to travellers, especially at the time of sunset.

On our way to Udaipur , we crossed Ranakpur and stopped by at the famous jain temple . Close to Ranakpur is a another famous fort called Kumbhalgarh Fort , where they have a light and sound show after 6pm.

UDAIPUR

We reached Udaipur by road in 5 hours and I was in love ! Udaipur the city of lakes or the Venice of the East !! The Most beautiful of all . We stayed near the Pichola Lake in a hotel called Jaiwana Haveli . Loved the view from our room . Plus the owners and the staff of the hotel are very friendly and co operative . Nestled amid the hilly surroundings, this beautiful city makes an enchanting holiday getaway with its picturesque lakes, historical edifices and sacred temples. The city owes its origin to Maharana Udai Singh in 1559 and was named after him.

We went to the famous Udaipur city palace and was enchanted . This palace is also one of the spots for the Bollywood Movies .
