I seriously can’t recollect how I missed out on this travel story. Anyways better late than never – It was a call of the forest, so we got lost in Masinagudi. The clearest way into the forest is through the wilderness.
Masinagudi is a small town in Tamil Nadu 230 kms away from Bangalore. Its close to Mudumalai and Bandipur Forest Reserve. Peace and tranquil defines Masinagudi. The foot-hills of Ooty. The forest area is a tiger reserve situated in the north western part of The Nilgiris Hills. The protected area is home to various endangered and vulnerable species. The most beautiful part of staying here is that none of the resorts have a boundary wall. If you’re lucky you can see the animals up close. The lush green Masinagudi is also a camping and trekking destination. The environment in the forest reserve makes it the most beautiful place to rejuvenate your body and soul.
We stayed in a resort called The Safari Land which is situated amidst The Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The captivating blue mountains of The Nilgiris is to die for. You can check up with the staff in resort in case you are looking out for a safari tour, trek etc. They can schedule the same for you. I was there just to relax, hence no adventurous activities. We were on time for lunch at this resort. The food served their is mostly south indian but delicious. The property is humongous. They have a play area which has a badminton court, snooker table, foosball etc.
In the evening, they had a bonfire with music. We were a group of mad people, so didn’t mind dancing away to glory.
Later the next day, on our way back home, we decided to stop at The Jungle Retreat for lunch. The most beautiful, had fallen in love with the property. The owners are extremely welcoming and make you feel at home. Didn’t feel like I met them for the first time.
The Jungle Retreat teaches you a new way to experience nature at its best. The best place for a refreshing and rejuvenating vacation. This pool is not only meant for swimming but sometimes there are wild species who come down to quench their thirst.
Like they say, nothing is more beautiful, than the loveliness of the woods before the sunrise. All good things are wild and free !! 😉
Cheers.
Wow. Looks like, you guys had a gorgeous trip. Must give this place a shot. We missed Masinagudi in every one of our Bangalore trips, but must make it soon one of these days.
