A Thing Called Fashion

Black is Back

Guilty as charged!

What can I say! I close deals in black and heels. The more black you wear, the more powerful you look. *wink* *wink*

Let me tell you how this happened while I was on a “black clothes ban” for a month now. It’s actually a “once upon a time” kinda story. A long time back, right after I came back to Bangalore to work after my Calcutta stint, I went out shopping to Orion Mall. Orion Mall wasn’t there when I was studying in Bangalore and therefore wanted to see what was so fancy about this mall. When I was studying in Bangalore, Mantri mall was supposedly the largest mall in the city. I entered the mall to see Vero Moda, Zara, Mango and Aldo in a single row and got super elevated for small town reasons. I decided to enter the Mango store and check out the new arrivals. Mango used to be my favourite brand before I discovered Eco fashion brands. The moment I entered the store, I saw this irresistible black body con dress. I am serious when I say it was love at first sight and I just wanted walk out of that store wearing that dress. I loved that dress so much that I wore it only on special occasions and kept it safe. It’s been three years now and I still believe that it was the best investment I ever made. The only issue now is that I doesn’t fit me anymore and I haven’t seen a dress like that anywhere. Heart Broken! You know that feeling, don’t you?

So, when BeCurvyFashion sent their designs, I couldn’t resist but get this black bodycon dress and that’s why guilty as charged. I think there is something about a black dress that is timeless and beautiful. The best thing about the colour black is that you can wear it anytime and any season. One can never be over-dressed or under-dressed in a perfect black dress. Black is magical!

There are so many ways you can style a simple black dress according to the situation and location. You can pair it with a crop top or a shrug on a chilly day or style it with a sleeveless summer jacket and sneakers for a casual day out with friends. What do you think about pairing a sari with a body-con dress? Isn’t that interesting? It was Ishtyleawhile’s idea and she told me about this plan when we were planning a collaboration last month but unfortunately due to personal reasons, the collaboration had to be cancelled. And I think it is a brilliant idea. Hoping to see her style the sari with a dress soon.

Hope you like the post. Always remember, a black dress and red lipstick is the you make a classy entrance my friend!
