A Thing Called Fashion

The Shirt-Dress Story

Hello everyone !! What is up ?

I just got back from a trip with a tanned face, hoping that my face comes back to it’s normal skin tone soon. This time I am here with my shirt dress story ! It’s an experience that I wanted to share because I am damn sure all of you will relate to it.

So tell me what happens when something that you really love or want doesn’t fit you ? There are different versions to this since it changes from person to person. Some might just be furious and command the brand store to get the size asap or search for it everywhere in the world. Some of you might just buy and dream about the body to shrink or the apparel to expand . I don’t know if that thought ever worked. You imagine how you will look in that gorgeous dress you saw at a store only if you could cut few inches from right and left. Trust me, I get it !!

Mostly, when there is a sale or when I am street shopping for some amazing fashion at a giveaway price. There are times when all you want is a trial room but unfortunately they don’t. Hence you just get it back home assuming it would fit. Anyways, so last weekend Spoyl organised a garage sale in Bangalore for the first time. I have always loved the concept of garage sale therefore the excitement. Spoyl is basically a one- stop solution to buy, sell and share your fashion wear, taste and style. Sell and turn your closet into cash they say ! I did use the app to buy something but haven’t sold anything yet.

About the garage sale – it was filled with people, clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, winter wear etc. I was thrilled to see everything around me, reminded me of my Sarojini Nagar days. Was just roaming around and found this shirt dress which was in a pool full of clothes. A monochrome shirt dress, for only 250 Rs. Sone pe suhaga ! I didn’t think twice and bought it for myself. I made sure atleast the hands fit me .

The dreadful moment – when you reach home and try it on, only to realise that the buttons don’t close. Oops ! But no worries, I thought of many ideas and of course the easiest way was to use it like a shrug or a shirt-shrug rather than a shirt dress. There are different ways to style a shirt !! Have styled one here 🙂

  1. I LOVE shirtdresses!! And yes, when they don’t fit me, I also layer them up on everything – from dresses to tee & denims to tunics & leggings!

  2. The dreadful moment for me is to see the dress which dnt fit and compare with my extra inches which I think is too extra to make a clone out of it and then I decide to reduce it a bit and same day my mom.makes my favourite dish of cheesy penny pasta…
